Foundation EDU is the most comprehensive and personalized writing workshop available.
Here’s what the academy includes:
- Workshops maintain a 15:1 student to teacher ratio.
- Each course is taught by a National Board Certified teacher and supported by a college-student assistant.
- Two months of academic writing instruction is covered in two weeks.
- Students will attend four live, 120-minute strategy sessions per week.
- Students and parents may schedule office-hour appointments throughout the week.
- Prior to the course, students receive a care package with texts for the course as well as a few gifts to inspire your child’s writing.
- At the end of the course, students will receive a personalized portfolio, detailing their strengths, areas of growth, and skills that could be further developed.
- Students get to keep the superior essaypop writing platform as an ongoing resource for their learning and writing in high school and college.
- Essaypop is a cloud-based writing platform that allows kids to write great academic papers on any device.
- Upon completion, students may submit two essays at any time during the year for a detailed review by a National Board Certified teacher.

Michelle Youngblood-Jarman
Michelle Youngblood Jarman is a National Board teacher with twenty-five years of experience teaching English and language arts. She is both a Los Angeles Unified School District Teacher of the Year and a Los Angeles County Teacher of the Year, as has been named a "United Way Teacher to Watch".
A life-long advocate for learning, she has a strong background in Holocaust studies and poetry and writing instruction. She is currently finishing her Masters at Harvard ES in English and has been elected to local, state, and national educational leadership positions.
Youngblood-Jarman describes herself as a lover of people and her playful and engaging approach to teaching brings out students' interests and motivates them to communicate in their own voices and in unique ways.
Jacquelyn Fabian
Jacquelyn Fabian is a National Board Certified teacher who has worn many hats in her 13 years in education. She has been a high school English teacher, co-teacher, curriculum leader, and department chair. She has presented at numerous conferences on the state, national and local levels on topics ranging from instructional technology, authentic assessment, and Anti-Bias/Anti-Racist Pedagogy. She has also created and delivered professional development seminars for pre-K through 12th-grade teachers focused on culturally responsive practices and student advocacy.
Fabian takes pride in her focus on student-centered educational experiences and believes that feedback that is individualized provides opportunities for growth and that revision based on informed feedback creates the best writers. Her students know that their victories will be celebrated that class will always be an engaging place where one can feel at home.
Sheila Grace
Sheila Grace has been teaching middle school and high school English for over twenty-eight years in both public and private schools in Rhode Island. She is a National Board Certified teacher and holds master’s degrees in both English and TOESL (Teachers of English as a Second Language). Often found after school working with students on original poetry, academic essays, and theatrical performances, Sheila enjoys helping students to find their voice.
Grace has spent much of her time this summer brushing up on educational technology, attempting to teach herself the ukulele, and adding to her narrative account of children in her community who are new to America entitled “Stories from the Basement.” Also, she revels in reading, laughing, and playing with her three grandchildren who live only a few blocks away.
Jessica Maloy
Jessica Maloy grew up in North Carolina and has been teaching English/Language Arts in the Las Vegas area for 14 years at the junior high and high school level. She also teaches courses at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Besides being Nationally Board Certified in English, she has organized study abroad trips for her students to Europe, Asia, and South America.
